With a strong order book this is an exciting time to join our Southern region who are recruiting for a Head of Estimating. Our southern Construction region is made up of 3 offices, based in Southampton, Crawley and Maple Cross.
Reporting in to the Pre-construction Director you will be managing the estimating process and day to day work of the Estimating team to ensure that the prime cost in every estimate is accurate. Effective leadership and succession planning will be vital for the development of the team to ensure the bids are produced to the highest standard.
The role will require you to…
- Support the development and implementation of the estimating budget (cost) for the business unit and the overall financial budget
- Lead, manage and motivate the estimating team and to establish its full commercial contribution to the organisation
- Support the winning of contracts whilst minimising risk and maximising gross profit

- Support the process of assessing, preparing (including post-tender activities), validating, adjudication and final submission of tenders on time and to the required quality
- Support the commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, suppliers and subcontractors during the tender and the fulfilment process
- Support the handover of the project plan (PEP) to the fulfilment team (procurement, contract management, commercial management and project management)
- Assess, control and mitigate risks and implement Kier Group's risk policy whilst complying with all Groups polices and procedure
- Implement and comply with Kier Group's SHE policy and procedures, all legal requirements, reporting and forecasting.
