The Position

As the Head of Group Financial Reporting, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting for the group involving c250 companies within a complex group structure containing various types of entity and degree of ownership. Individual SPVs (Special Purpose Vehicles) are used to administer development projects that the Group undertakes, which are either UK limited companies or LLPs. The majority of these vehicles are 100% owned but some are part owned or operated as Joint Ventures.

You will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Managing the preparation of group financial statements, which consist of P&L, balance sheet, cash flow associated notes, and detailed commentary.
  • Ensuring good cross-departmental communication across the relevant business units to increase understanding and improve quality of financial reporting.
  • Leading the groups reporting schedule and ensuring deadlines are met while driving to reduce reporting time both internally and externally.
  • Managing the delivery of full group accounts including front end commentary and disclosures, which will involve liaising with senior stakeholders and departments across the business.
  • Lead the team of financial reporting accountants, which will involving mentoring and developing the department to ensure targets and deadlines are met.
  • Being the main point of contact for our external auditors.
  • Preparing detailed documents for key accounting judgements and estimates.
  • Continuously managing and trying to improve the consolidation and reporting systems to deliver efficiency and visibility across the group.
  • Providing financial support to various areas across the group to assist with decision making, particularly around our Investment and Acquisitions teams.

The Person

This role will suit a technically gifted accountant, well versed across IFRS and UK GAAP with at least 5 years PQE and proven experience in this role.

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to present ideas in a clear format, and professional manner, often to non-financial people.
  • Solid knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP company experience, which can be achieved either in industry or in practice.
  • Determination to provide solutions to improve deadlines, generate efficiencies, and get things done.
  • Ability to manage a small team of financial reporting accountants, so previous management experience would be desirable.
  • Must have strong consolidation systems experience, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of construction finance or joint venture reporting is desirable but not essential.
