Job Title: Head of Operations

We are currently looking for a Head of Operations to join our Highways team in Ipswich to provide the strategic lead for infrastructure operations, being a positive and influential contributor to the team.
Key Responsibilities
As Head of Operations you will be responsible for the timely operational delivery of both programmed planned work and reactive maintenance work through efficient and effective deployment of available resources, regulating resources across all forms of work activity. Secure and release top-up resources as necessary for seasonal works and peaks in workload, as well as assisting in the acquisition of value for money supply chain partners. Lead the co-ordination at service delivery centres between infrastructure operations and other services to enable a fully integrated Suffolk Highways service to be provided in a consistent and effective manner at those locations. Monitor the financial management of all aspects of operational works, taking appropriate steps to counter non-commercially viable activity and secure the best financial gain for Suffolk Highways. Fully contribute towards Suffolk Highways' achievement of performance management framework outcomes through the best possible operational outputs.
We are seeking candidates who?
- Hold operational experience in a similar role
- Possess a qualification in a relevant discipline (preferably engineering) or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Have a Diploma in management studies, an equivalent management qualification or demonstrable experience in the management of operational workforce delivery
- Will obtain high levels of operational productivity and profitability in a commercial environment
- Are IOSH certified or certified in site safety management
- Can demonstrate proven on-site experience of successfully managing a range of complex projects in highways maintenance and improvement schemes, including major works exceeding £1m in scheme value
- Show in-depth knowledge of highway/finance law, guidance and processes across a range of highway infrastructure operational delivery functions
