Daniel Owen are proud to be representing a leading housing company in the Central London area that are looking for a brand new Health and Safety Advisor to join their team.

The role will be supporting the health, safety team to build and engender a culture of health, safety and well-being. Health and Safety Advisor will be supporting the H+S Manager in delivering health and safety programmes and targets in accordance with the companies strategic plans and building and maintaining the safety management system.

This will involve delivering part of the internal audit programme, developing, and delivering the health and safety training programme, managing the accident and incident reporting process and undertaking investigations where necessary, compiling suitable reports and action plans and engaging with a wide stakeholder group on health and safety management and continuous improvement.

The Role:

Reporting to the H+S Manager, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following;

  • Undertake planned and ad hoc health and safety audits and inspections of residential properties, operational sites and work programmes, and report findings back to relevant departments, to ensure that the companies policies and procedures are consistently implemented and adhered to and to actively promote compliance.
  • Participate in quarterly Health and Safety Committee meetings and any sub-committees and task and finish groups to present ideas and proposals, monitor effectiveness of compliance and listen and act upon feedback given.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of programmes of action to address priorities for health and safety improvements within the business.
  • Manage the organisation's health and safety e-learning portfolio: develop and deliver the health, safety and fire induction programme and monitor its use and effectiveness.
  • Identify and prioritise fire, health and safety learning and development needs, and assist in organising programmes for managers and staff to meet identified needs.
  • Liaising with operational managers and supporting them with any issues that arise within their service areas helping to drive health and safety standards.

To be successful in the role you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • NEBOSH or NCRQ certificate or equivalent H&S qualification or appropriate membership of a professional institution
  • Graduate level education or qualified through experience
  • Qualification/training/experience in training or learning (minimum: 'train the trainer')
  • Evidence of continued professional development
