Rethinking Safety through Inclusion + Wellbeing

Inclusion and Wellbeing is our holistic approach to physical and psychological health and safety - addressing the unique risk factors in construction.

At Laing O'Rourke we are looking for a Health & Safety Manager to manage, lead and champion Health & Safety delivery at Olympia. A H&S manager who supports and facilitates the delivery of I+W across the project and measures H&S performance against strategic deliverables.

Our work as main contractor on Future Olympia includes the redevelopment of the existing listed exhibition halls - the Grand Hall and the National Hall - and the creation of new offices, a four-screen cinema, a 4,000-seat music venue, a 1,500-seat theatre, two new hotels, new retail outlets and public realm space. All of this will be delivered while allowing the exhibition areas to remain operational and revenue generating.

Position summary:

  • Manage, lead and champion for Health and Safety delivery within their project/business/facility.
  • To provide local advice and support necessary to assist managers and staff to fulfil their safety responsibilities to the high standards demanded by the Business.
  • Facilitate and coach operational teams on I+W and the respective engagement tools, which allow the team to engage effectively with the workforce.
  • Carry out relevant H&S assurance activities, providing confidence to the business that operational effectiveness of all relevant processes is being delivered.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Qualification at level 5 (min)
  • Technical knowledge in Occupational Health Risk Management and Wellbeing
  • Technical knowledge in Safety Risk Management
  • Coaching / Training competence
  • Assurance / Audit / Investigation competence
  • Member of relevant professional body
