Healthcare Assistant - Essential Requirements:

  • Possession of a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ/SVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care or an equivalent healthcare-related NVQ.
  • Minimum of 2 years recent experience within the last 3 years working as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in a general practice or other healthcare environment.
  • Valid certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), and Safeguarding Children and Young People and Vulnerable Adults Level 2 training.
  • Ability to provide certificates of training completed within the last three years, or proof of clinical competency from a previous employer or Line Manager who is a current registered healthcare professional in specific clinical procedures, such as recording ECGs, performing venepuncture, urinalysis, specimen preparation, simple dressing procedures, and using aseptic technique.

Healthcare Assistant - Service Requirements:

  • Provision of general basic nursing care under indirect supervision of the practice nurse team, performing delegated tasks and duties assigned by qualified regulated professionals.
  • Provision of clinical administrative support as needed.
  • Collaboration with the general practice team to meet patient needs, following policies and procedures for care management of the practice population.
  • Assistance provided to Medical Officers (MOs) and practice nurse teams in various clinics, including Primary Health Care clinics, Occupational Health assessment clinics, chronic disease clinics, and health promotion.
  • Performance of clinical measurements, visual acuity, Electrocardiogram (ECG), venepuncture, peak flow readings, spirometry, urinalysis, and preparation of specimens for investigation.
  • Effective communication with patients in specific clinical situations.

  • Ability to work alongside military personnel on Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force bases to deliver exceptional care to service personnel and their families (at certain locations).
