A wonderful new opportunity now exists for an ambitious, time-served Heating Engineer to join a successful heating company with an outstanding reputation for delivering a customer centred, values-driven service throughout West-Berkshire.
Established over 20 years ago, our client proudly installs, repairs and maintains heating systems and water systems for domestic and commercial customers throughout Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire.
Once embedded within the team, and by working closely with the current management team, the successful applicant will become responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the business. In order to achieve this, the post holder must have a good blend of hands-on domestic and commercial experience and the desire to push the business forward.
This newly created role is designed to provide the successful candidate with an exciting fast track opportunity to quickly progress towards a fully operational, senior management role - something quite unique within this industry. As such, the Heating & Technical Manager will be required work closely with the Managing Director to ensure they have a full understanding of how the business has become successful and why their customers are so loyal to them.
Key Responsibilities
- Competently undertake gas servicing, repair and installation works to the required legal and regulatory standard.
- Install appliances and heating pus hot water systems.
- Carry out planned maintenance checks on systems and equipment
- Wire and test heating and hot water domestic control systems.
- Install or repair heating system pipe work.
- Advise customers advice about heating efficiency and safety in the course of a job.
- Acting as an onsite team leader/supervisor leading junior staff.
- You will have accurate knowledge of the latest regulations and standards from all compliance and technical bodies which concern heating, hot water and plumbing and study to keep current.
- Initiate discussions for improvement to profits or procedure.
Skills & Experience
- A current GasSafe registration with 6/7 years domestic and commercial heating experience.
- Experience of dealing with gas fired work, installations, breakdowns, and servicing.
- Experience in oil heating systems or be OFTEC registered.
- Experience of quoting heating work.
- A demonstrable attitude of openness and transparency is required as part of a wider ethos of putting the customer first at all times.
- Have undertaken health and safety risk assessments and worked in accordance with HSE regulation and safety legislation.
- Able to communicate potentially complex matters in clear and easily understandable terms with the Company aims and interests in mind.
