Kier Bristol Water is looking to recruit a HGV Grab Driver reporting to the contract supervisors and Area Managers. This role involves backfill and servicing of excavations both on the public highway and on private land. You will be based at one of the four operating depots within the Bristol Water catchment.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing support to the Service and Mainlaying teams to remove excavated material and import clean stone for backfilling purposes.
  • Assist the teams with backfilling and site clearance when required.
  • Working as a 2 man team (with a mate), backfill and reinstate excavations in line with company procedures.
  • Ensure compliance of backfill operations regarding materials, compaction, cavity depths, cover levels and overall quality control.
  • Use of appropriate compaction equipment.
  • Completion of site risk assessments and quality check sheets for each job.
  • Ability to use an electronic tablet for receiving and updating scheduled work, quality control and record keeping.
  • Accurate and timely liaison with contract scheduling team for daily whereabouts and job allocation.
  • Clearing depots of excavated material and keeping the sites clean and tidy.
  • Transporting stores and materials around the company area to support the depots.
  • Undertaking and recording of all relevant plant and vehicle checks.
  • To drive commercial vehicles safely.
  • Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Full UK driving licence with HGV Category C is essential for this role
  • Holds a valid Driver CPS Licence - essential
  • Holds Lorry loader/grab (claim shell ticket) - essential.
  • Possess a NRSWA street work operatives card covering units 001-006 inc. SLG reinstatement in the Highway.- essential
  • Can participate in a formal 1 in 4 standby rota
  • A good team player with flexible attitude.
  • Previous experience of working on utility contracts preferable.
  • Ability to undertake manual work.
  • Experience of dealing with customers.
  • Knowledge of correct lifting practices
  • Working hours: 07:30 to 17:30
