Dutton Recruitment are currently seeking a Highway Inspector for work based in South Yorkshire.
The successful candidate will carry out a proactive role in operating and developing a highway inspection system for the highway network in an area of Rotherham.
Key Duties/Areas of Responsibility
Carry out highway, street works and condition inspections in accordance with the Codes of Practice, including the use of IT, and to process data into the highway pavement management system.
Identify, record in appropriate formats, classify defects and other work required on highway surfaces and street furniture, whilst liaising with statutory undertakers as necessary.
Give guidance to other technical staff and advice to members of the public.
Liaise with other departments and outside bodies to provide a fully integrated and co-ordinated delivery of services.
Attend meetings such as Area Assembly's, Parish Councils etc and provide information and updates on forthcoming works / events.
Measure, prepare and issue highway maintenance tasks to the Delivery team or Contractor, including budgetary control.
Investigate complaints and reports from members of the public including Councillors' Surgery Reports and instigate action as required to provide a customer responsive service.
Contribute to the continuous business re-engineering and improvement of the basic highway maintenance function from inspection schedules through to construction on site.
Prepare reports and information for Council, internal management and other relevant bodies both internal and external.
Assist in the control of activities of any person or statutory body within the highway under the provisions of the Highways Act 1980 or Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.
A valid UK Driving Licence is essential to qualify for the role.
