Location: Farthing Corner Depot, Gillingham

Business Unit: Highways

Hours: Permanent 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday day/night working with the potential requirement to be on a rota for weekend and bank holiday working/standby arrangements

We are now recruiting for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Highways team in Farthing Corner, Gillingham to assist the Maintenance & Repair (M&R) Supervisor with the efficient and timely delivery of the M&R service requirements across the network.

What you'll be doing:

As Highways Operative you assist the M&R Supervisor with the efficient and timely delivery of the M&R service requirements across the network. Required to carry out emergency response operations and install traffic management where required, carry out depot operations, maintenance and improvement works and support severe weather operations. The expectation is that you contribute to the promotion of customer care by working closely with team members to ensure client and network users (general public) are dealt with in a polite and courteous manner.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Capable of working under pressure in within a safety critical role
  • Self-motivated with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Full UK driving licence
