We are Kier, one of the UK's leading construction and infrastructure services, working on projects such as Local and Strategic Highways.
We are now recruiting for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Highways team in Oswestry to in this role you will carry out Highway Maintenance duties as instructed this will include being part of the winter maintenance and Emergency's Callout.
What you'll be doing:
Undertaking reactive and planned highways maintenance works such as pothole repairs, kerblaying, drainage, out of hours emergency call out and winter maintenance duties. It will be imperative to work in close cooperation with team members and subcontractors, contributing to the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment. Carry out collective and personal on site risk assessments in accordance with company requirements. Contribute to the promotion of customer care by working closely with team members to ensure client and network users are dealt with in a polite and courteous manner. It is crucial you can operate a variety of plant and equipment in order to carry out required duties effectively (training will be provided if required). Assist with ensuring that site and company equipment is always secure. Use of CONFIRM application to accurately record siteworks and upload photographic evidence.(Training will be provided) Complete daily record sheets as required. Carry out daily defect reports on vehicles and ensure vehicles are maintained in good order. Actively promote Health & Safety in the workplace. When required, you will contribute to weekend, bank holiday working and out of hours/call out rosters.
We are seeking candidates who:
- Have a full driving licence
- Willing to work outside
- Have a flexible approach to working pattens
- Are willing to learn and be developed within a highway's maintenance environment
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Work in a safe and professional manner
- Experience in Highways Maintenance
- 12d Lantra Traffic Management trained
- LGV driving license
- NRSWA Operative qualification
