Location: Weatherhill Depot, Smallfield
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Basic Salary: £23k - £28k dependent on experience and qualifications (weekly paid) + benefits package. With the potential to significantly increase your take-home package with standby, call-out, and overtime.
Responsibilities
As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you'll be working as part of a team to carry out highway's maintenance duties as well as winter maintenance, and emergency response when required.
Your duties will include:
- Part of the response team, promptly dealing with incidents on the highways network.
- Carry out a wide variety of maintenance activities including Gully Cleansing, Winter Maintenance salt spreading, Traffic Management, Grass cutting, fencing, and other activities to keep the highway network operational.
- Work closely with team members to actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of Health and Safety compliance.
- You will be required to work nights and days and required to participate in out of hours rotas for emergency response. - basic salary is based on working 40 contracted hours on days, overtime will be paid for additional hours. An uplift will be paid for working nights and weekends. Standby Payments will be paid for Emergency callout and winter maintenance standbys.
Who are we looking for?
We need you to have a fully valid driving license. This is essential, so that you can drive our vehicles to the site, carrying the tools and equipment required.
The only other skills we require you to have include:
- A can-do attitude
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Capability to work under pressure, ensuring we deliver a safe and reliable service for our customers and clients, keeping the roads maintained and traffic flowing.
