Kier Strategic Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Highways/ Fencing Operative to join our Area 3 contract.

Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities.

Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.

Your responsibilities:
  • Work in close cooperation with team members and subcontractors, contributing to the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment for both the network users and work team by ensuring compliance all H&S procedures
  • Contribute to the promotion of customer care by working closely with team members to ensure client and network users are dealt with in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Responsible for notification to Network Control Centre on commencement and end of winter maintenance and occupation of Road space for Traffic Management
  • When trained to do so operate a variety of plant and equipment in order to carry out required duties effectively. Assist with ensuring that site and company equipment is secure at all times. Raise problems/queries with designated supervisor.
  • Carry out daily defect reports on vehicles and ensure vehicles are maintained in good order.
  • Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.

  • What are we looking for?:
  • 12ab Lantra traffic management trained
  • Basic Lantra VRS qualification
  • LGV driving licence group "C" minimum.
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Asset Management Awareness - operational level required
