In order to maintain Benholm's long standing and enviable reputation we are now looking to recruit a multi-skilled Horticultural Maintenance Technician & Installer to work across our client sites throughout Aberdeen and the local area. The ideal candidate will be easily able to demonstrate an innate pride in whichever tasks they undertake, coupled with the ability to travel easily between office and commercial sites in order to maintain and install prefabricated arrangements of flowers and plants.
Whilst previous experience in a similar 'green-fingered' horticultural role would be ideal; this is absolutely not essential. Applications are particularly welcomed from highly organised individuals with previous experience of working in a logistics, warehouse, field service or trades environment with a strong technical mindset looking for a 'hands-on' role in which to utilise their trade or DIY skillset.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit customers' sites at agreed intervals to water, clean, feed, prune, etc. and replace plant and flower arrangements as necessary.
- Install Benholm products at customer sites including plant pots, hanging baskets, moss walls, living walls and any associated signage or structures, frameworks and joinery required to complete the job.
- Work with the Head of Production to support the planting and preparation of Benholm products in time for delivery and installation.
- Undertake maintenance work as needed.
- Loading and unloading of vans including any associated tools & equipment necessary for maintenance routines to be managed efficiently.
- Unload van once assigned work has been completed ensuring all tools and equipment are returned and stored in a clean, tidy, and organised state.
- Complete timesheets & relevant process documentation as necessary.
- Work through any Health & Safety issues as they arise liaising with the customer and/or Operations Manager as needed.
- Provide feedback to the Head of Production for continual improvement.
- Proactively identify and refer opportunities for new business to Sales team.
Key Skills & Experience
- A professional, helpful and highly organised approach
- Experience or training in horticulture, joinery/carpentry, landscaping, DIY, warehousing, logistics or floristry is desirable.
- Experience in customer-facing field service roles would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Impeccable customer service skills with excellent communication.
- Ability to independently resolve problems with a "Can Do" approach to work.
- This is a customer-facing role which requires being well-presented and polite.
- Care and attention to detail and reliable.
- Physically fit (as this role includes lifting and moving items safely) and able to work at height.
- Own transport required as work premises is not near any public transport.
