The Role
  • Support the Head of HR in the development, management and implementation of a commercially focussed, legally compliant people plan for the Business Unit
  • Work with Managing Director responsible for a range of major projects, often delivered with a joint venture partner providing the delivery of a customer centric and business supportive HR service.
  • Create a work culture and environment which attracts and retains top diverse talent within the organisation.
  • Develops and implement a hiring strategy and selection process with the Resourcing Business Partner and Managers to recruit, test, interview, and coach managers on candidate selections, monitor candidate experience to and makes changes to hiring process to provide a first class experience;
  • Manages the performance evaluation and succession planning process; Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employees by training managers to coach and develop employees to support operations team with maximising staff capability and competency
  • Work collaboratively with customers and joint venture partners to implement people plans within contracts
  • Ensure the creation, development and implementation of effective plans to enhance employee engagement in the business area.
  • Assisting management to provide guidance and support with organisational restructure, including implementation of change to Oracle HR data and people plans in relation to future work
  • To work in conjunction with Group HR functions and Centres of Excellence to provide best practice advice and support across the business stream.
  • Co-coordinating and managing all Employee Relations activity in the region, supporting and facilitating contentious issues that have escalated or that involve senior management
  • Establishing and maintaining positive working relations with Trade Unions as appropriate
  • Work with HR Shared Service to provide appropriate people Management Information to inform and drive business performance
  • Take full responsibility and ownership of people data and work proactively with HR Shared Service to provide seamless transactional support to the business stream
  • Management responsibilities for Assistant HR Business Partner
  • Leading HR projects and initiatives within the business unit as required to ensure delivery of the HR plan.


  • The Individual
  • CIPD Qualified
  • Good working knowledge of Employment Law, HR Policies and Procedures and TUPE
  • Experience of Oracle HR Systems
  • HR experience gained in an operational role covering multiple locations,
  • Proven track record of working with senior management teams
  • Ability to build relationships and credibility and have excellent influencing skills
  • Previous experience of HR delivery to multiple stakeholders
  • Able to deal with contentious issues that may have escalated
  • Experience of working with an HR Shared Service team
  • Strong commercial awareness and business understanding
  • A flexible approach in terms of work content and geography
  • Strong teamwork ethic and the ability to work across teams
  • Competent to be involved in the strategic direction of the business
  • Personal desire to drive change and make things happen
  • Experience within the construction section is an advantage
