HR Business Partner
Breedon are seeking a HR Business Partner to join our HR team at Breedon Group. This role will be based at Hope Cement Works in Derbyshire, with requirement for national travel to depots & terminals. Supporting the HR Manager, the HR Business Partner will be the first point of contact to provide generalist HR support and advice as well as support operational management teams across the business to provide a value added service. The post holder will work closely alongside the HR Administrator, and wider HR community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACTIVIES:
- Providing high quality pragmatic advice on generalist HR issues including complex case management.
- Provide support and drive forward improvement in resourcing needs for the business reducing the time to hire timescales.
- Review opportunities for growth with apprenticeship, graduate and/or kickstart recruitment.
- Work in partnership with L&D on development opportunities for apprenticeship/graduate and other training providers.
- Review opportunities to attract and improve diversity of teams.
- Support and coach line management when conducting investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, appeals and performance meetings.
- Work in partnership with managers and L&D function to create a learning culture, to develop future capabilities, talent management and succession planning
- Identify HR priorities from the wider Group as well as departmental plans, translating business requirements into effective HR practices and delivering people solutions aligned to business objectives
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in the wider HR arena and provide relevant updates and training to the business teams as applicable
- Take ownership with the management team for the employee engagement agenda, taking an active role in engagement networks, Great Place to Work initiatives and internal communications
- Work collaboratively with the business to ensure wellbeing initiatives are relevant and impactful
- Develop a thorough knowledge of the Partnership Agreement and ensure that the agreement remains current
- Work in partnership with the trade unions to ensure colleagues covered by the Partnership Agreement are clear of the principles, intent and application on day-to-day basis
- Design and implement methodologies to be able to obtain relevant data to help influence key business decision making
- Monitor attendance, completing monthly absence reports and monitor absence rates, seeking to support management with interventions to improve both.
- Oversee the management of LTS cases and complete Occupational Health referrals where necessary.
- Linking with L&D function for any learning interventions required.
- Support delivery of Company People Plan at a business and national level, including working as part of project teams to deliver, design and implement initiatives as required.
- Support the HR Manager and other HR colleagues as required in any other HR activity, such as case management, terms & condition reviews, consultation, restructuring/change programmes including redundancy, acquisitions, TUPE.
- Ensure effective, timely case management of people related issues.
- Work with business to ensure that HR process and systems are aligned to relevant quality & environmental standards in place at any given time.
- Coach and support HR Administrator in the provision of HR services to the business unit
- Represent the HR team in a professional manner to the wider business, championing collaborative working relationships both with our internal and external stakeholders.
CORE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND BEHAVIOURS:

- Proven experience of undertaking a generalist standalone HR role at a senior HR Advisor level as a minimum in a fast paced environment.
- Experience of delivering full resourcing solutions.
- Ability to deliver management reporting including use of complex excel formulae.
- Ability to build and maintain credibility and trusting relationships with all stakeholders.
- Proven experience of identifying, solutioning and resolving problems
- Ability to manage numerous complex workloads at any one time.
- Experience of working within unionised environment (preferable)
- Experience of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 (preferable)
- Experience of similar industry and multi-site operations (preferable)
- Be able to work well and remain calm under pressure.
- To work autonomously.
- To strive for continuous improvement with a focus on finding the right solution.
- Proven experience of complex case management and application of latest employment legislation.
- Show resilience and the skill to deal with challenging stakeholders and situations.
- Show flexibility when it comes to business needs and change.
- Effective time management.
- Hold a full clean driving licence.
