Dutton Recruitment are looking for an HRSG Boiler Technician for work on a seasonal basis for extended periods of time to cover outages and projects.
We will be looking for experience in the power sector as a Boiler/HRSG Engineer (Coal or Gas Power Station) with specific knowledge and in depth experience of Materials, Quality Assurance/Control, Welding, Heat Treatment & Nondestructive testing technique alongside being comfortable with contract and contractor management
The details of the conversation are below and the candidate shall need thermal plant experience. And knowledge of some specific materials such as P91, F22 And ultrasonic NDT techniques for in service degradation modes of failure.
- Support, monitor and emphasize the importance of safety and environmental programs.
- Perform field inspections, field measurements and equipment walk downs, focusing on assessing boiler/HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generators) pressure parts and associated equipment.
- Recommend changes in procedures, equipment, or materials as necessary to maintain and improve boiler/HRSG performance, reduce O&M costs, and increase reliability.
- Focus on specific problem areas or needs for generating units (ie: Root Cause Analysis).
- Coordinate with Vendors/Contractors and outside groups in support of Boiler/HRSG related projects.
- Provide technical support for plant operations and maintenance activities
- Participate in planning scope of work during Scheduled Outages, supporting Capital Projects, and identify the need for boiler/HRSG component replacement.
- Provide boiler engineering support for operating power plants with regards to performance and condition assessments, design modifications, and the upgrading and replacement of boiler/HRSG pressure part components and associated equipment.
- Work with power plant personnel to understand operations & maintenance practices and their impact on boiler/HRSG performance and reliability.
- Develops and maintains a boiler/HRSG inspection plan for each unit including drawings, soot blower location, tube material information, what to inspect for in each floor/area, and pictures of typical failure mechanisms.
Skills
- A four year degree from a college or university, within an engineering program
- A minimum of 10 years technical and/or professional experience.
- Knowledge of boiler/HRSG operation and maintenance
- Experience inspecting, commissioning, testing, designing, troubleshooting, operating & maintaining large fossil fuel fired utility boilers/HRSGs.
- Experience working with boiler/HRSG OEMs
- Project management skills, working knowledge of the electric and steam generation industry
