Infrastructure Engineers
Breedon are currently seeking two Infrastructure Engineers to join our team in Lockington, near Derby.
Reporting to the Infrastructure Architect, you will work in a small team leading the group's infrastructure and work closely with the business stakeholders and internal IT to deliver and maintain technical solutions.
You will be responsible for not only maintaining the current infrastructure but also play a key part in the future infrastructure strategy to ensure the roadmap is fully aligned to the business, while ensuring operational environments are reliable and meet the demands placed upon them. You will work with both key members of the business and the internal IT teams to find new solutions that can bring efficiency in every aspect, assist in providing both hard and soft infrastructures to aid ongoing projects and carry these from design and planning stages through to implementing the technology with the business, identifying benefits and risk mitigation approaches associated with the proposed solution.
This role will also work closely with external support partners to ensure there is a key technical link from the business to these partners to ensure service levels are maintained from a technical standpoint and current\ future capacity planning is managed effectively. The Infrastructure Engineer will most likely have come from a hands-on Support, Technical or Network Engineering background, already be working as an Infrastructure Engineer or be ready to step-up to your next challenge as an Infrastructure Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing existing systems to ensure they meet business requirements.
- Technical direction of new system implementations.
- Capacity planning of current and new solutions.
- Network and security designs and topologies to support business strategies
- Creating and maintaining up-to-date low and high-level documentation and diagrams
- Keep abreast of potential threats to IT infrastructure and, along with security teams, liaise with 3rd party vendors to maintain a safe environment
- Identifying, investigating, and implementing new technologies while managing current infrastructure and 3rd party partners, without disrupting the day-to-day IT operations
- Develop relationships with infrastructure product vendors
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and network problems, diagnosing and solving any issues in a timely manner and inline with agreed SLA's
- Identify and replace faulty equipment as required.
- Support the roll-out of new sites either through acquisitions or organic growth.
- Proactively support company compliance to Health and Safety legislation through adherence to company polices, processes and practices.
- Work closely when required with all members of the IT team across the group.
- Ensure infrastructure risks are managed, in particular non-functional requirements, including availability, scalability and performance
- Assess current and emergent technology, giving advice on price and performance
- Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested by management.

- The ability to work with technical and business stakeholders
- Set and manage stakeholder expectations regarding infrastructure
Knowledge of the following: Microsoft 365; Azure; Exchange Online; Security technologies, e.g., MFA, firewalls, IPS/IDS, SIEM, certificate renewal and management, patch management, penetration testing; Network technologies, e.g. Routers, Switches, VLANs, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, MPLS; Windows Server 2012R2-2019; Active Directory Domain Services, Group Policy; Windows desktop, e.g., OS, productivity, management, remote access, deployment, hardware; Virtualisation infrastructure and virtual estate management; Monitoring and alerting systems; use of ticket management systems
- You must be a confident Infrastructure Engineer speaking to both technical, and non-technical audiences, in a fast-paced environment.
Specific features of this position:
- Must have the flexibility to work in a dynamic company with a wide product range, and approach their work with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
- Must be able to manage their own schedule workload
- Must be prepared to visit any sites across the group for short periods at short notice which may include overnight stays.
