We are working with a fantastic college in the Essex area who are looking for a full time, permanent Lecturer in Games Design & Interactive Media to undertake specified programme leadership for a Digital Media programme. The college are offering an annual salary of up to £36,268 per annum (depending on skills, experience and quals) + £5000 Golden Hello (£3000 after 1 months then £1000 after 12 months, and £1000 after 24 months) and are looking to interview immediately.
Role responsibilities
To deliver effective and inspirational teaching and learning sessions across a range of digital media courses at FE and HE levels. Areas of specific expertise to include practical computer games development techniques, animation and project management of digital media content, critical and contextual approaches and the business aspects of the digital media and games industry.
To carry out appropriate assessment activities including supervising examinations, marking students' work, designing and setting assessed work and using virtual learning environments (VLE) such as Moodle for grading and effective feedback.
To monitor standards of students' learning against awarding body guidelines and to raise achievement levels. To provide effective feedback to learners to support further learning.
To provide personal and academic tutorial support for allocated student groups as well as providing support and guidance to students during teaching, delivering and assessment activities both in the classroom and through VLE.
To ensure the effective and efficient programme leadership and management of the units/modules taught.
To actively lead and manage of Digital Media programme, including effective monitoring and facilitation of student learning, attendance, value added, retention, success rates, main qualification, GAP and English and Maths achievement.
To maintain best practice with Health and Safety, and Codes of Practice relating to the use of media equipment and student's projects on and off site.
To lead inspirational and current curriculum development on a Digital Media programme.
To explore and be informed by the latest educational, pedagogy, andragogy and industry research and practices.
To promote the college and be engaged in marketing and publicity activities as required.
The person & qualifications
The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in an appropriate subject or equivalent, and have GCSE's Maths and English (or equivalent).
You will also hold a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, or be willing to achieve this in post.
The knowledge, skills and expertise in the practical creation of digital media and computer games development and design content.
A DBS on the update service or applied for.
