Interim Financial Accountant

Fixed Term Contract - 14 months.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to join the finance team at Blenheim Palace on a fixed term contract, starting 1 November 2021 to the end of 2022.

Blenheim is now a hugely diverse business with a duty to preserve its legacy, an ambition to continually evolve, and a need to sustain a strong connection with the community. In addition to being a major visitor attraction, Blenheim is also a venue for weddings and events, a filming location, a significant farmer, a producer of Natural Mineral Water, a major property owner and investor, a construction business, and a charitable foundation.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the preparation of our statutory accounts, consolidations and audit packs for a range of entities including Trusts, Charity and Limited Companies. You will also be responsible for external reporting, acting as key contact for the audit process and assisting the Head of Financial Reporting with tax and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of statutory accounts, consolidation and audit packs for a range of entities spanning two separate year ends. December year end, audited year end and unaudited half year sets of single entity, consolidation and special purpose reporting for loan covenants and March year end, charity consolidation and single entities. Consolidation workings, notes to the accounts and word accounts.
  • Key contact with the audit team to ensure smooth audit running to timetable.
  • Key contact for tax advisors to ensure correct tax computations.
  • Preparation of accounting papers for significant or one-off transactions.
  • External reporting to other bodies: Financial Conduct Authority, industry bench-marking (leading visitor attraction, treasure houses).
  • Bespoke reporting: Economic Impact.
  • Month end reporting: assisting with the balance sheet reporting.
  • Assisting with ad hoc tax and compliance matters (charity governance, gift aid, MTD, IR 35)

What we are looking for:

  • ACA or ACCA fully qualified.
  • Audit trained/practice background would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical accounting skills.
  • IT literate, ideally with some experience of accounting packages and extensive knowledge of Excel.
  • Highly professional attitude to providing a quality service in a deadline driven role.
  • Analytical with an eye for detail.
  • Desire to challenge and deliver improvements to existing financial systems and processes.
  • Comfortable working independently but able to demonstrate a strong team ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Self-motivated and have a willingness to enhance their technical knowledge.
