We are now looking for an IRV Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Highways team in Birmingham to support in all aspects of incident response, including but not limited to, attendance at, making safe, repair of Category 1 defects, and assisting with highways emergencies as directed. Location: Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive plus benefits



Responsibilities

As IRV Highways Maintenance Operative, you will operate vehicles and plants requiring specialist skills, including undertaking daily vehicle checks, routine maintenance (e.g. oil, water, wiper fluid), and cleaning, whilst ensuring defect reports are completed and submitted. Be a point of contact for all aspects of highway maintenance works, including routine and cyclical maintenance activities and minor civils works.

The role may also require you to provide cover on nights, weekends, and bank holidays.



Your day-to-day will include:

  • You will take responsibility for the safety of yourself and others within your team to ensure compliance with the relevant health & safety legislation and safe operation to protect members of the public
  • Keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, communicate and liaise with other employees of Kier, sub-contractors, the emergency services, general public, clients and customers.
  • Provide information to populate the risk register and update this information as the project develops


Who are we looking for?



This role of IRV Highways Maintenance Operative is great for you if you have:

  • Demonstrate good knowledge of Health and Safety especially relating to highways operations
  • Hold relevant essential qualifications in traffic management, incident response, winter maintenance and highway maintenance operational tasks
  • UK driving licence.
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme qualified at a skilled worker level or higher
