We are now looking for a IRV Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Highways team in Birmingham to support in all aspects of incident response, including but not limited to, attendance at, making safe, repair of Category 1 defects and assisting with highways emergencies as directed.
Key Responsibilities
As IRV Highways Maintenance Operative, you will operate vehicles and plant requiring specialist skills, including undertaking daily vehicle checks, routine maintenance (e.g. oil, water, wiper fluid) and cleaning, whilst ensuring defect reports are competed and submitted. Be a point of contact for all aspects of highway maintenance works, including routine and cyclical maintenance activities and minor civils works. You will take responsibility for the safety of yourself and others within your team to ensure compliance with the relevant health & safety legislation and safe operation to protect members of the public. Keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, communicate and liaise with other employees of Kier, sub-contractors, the emergency services, general public, clients and customers. Provide information to populate the risk register and update this information as the project develops. The role may also require you to provide cover on nights, weekends and bank holidays.
We are seeking candidates who:
- Demonstrate good knowledge of Health and Safety especially relating to highways operations
- Hold relevant essential qualifications in traffic management, incident response, winter maintenance and highway maintenance operational tasks
- Have a full driving licence
- Are Construction Skills Certification Scheme qualified at a skilled worker level or higher
