Job Title: IT Support Technician

Location: Flexible- covering various sites across the East and West Midlands, as well as the South West of England (ranging from Lutterworth to Redruth).

Contract: Permanent- Full Time

We are Kier, one of the UK's leading construction and infrastructure services and we have an exciting opportunity for an IT Support Technician (Operational IT Support Hub Operator) to join the team.

Across all areas, we have rolled out a new electronic Works Management System. You will be a key member in driving the use of the system utilising various outputs, provide support to office and site-based teams to ensure they are fully trained in the use of the system either on the web versions for office staff or on their mobile device for the site teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking calls from Managers, Supervisors and Teams regarding issues with mobile devices and systems, provide support and advice to solve remotely if possible, and in person maintaining mobile devices including ensuring they are linked to the correct user and have the latest system and Kier updates.
  • Ordering and maintaining a backup stock of mobile devices ready for temporary or permanent replacement
  • Keeping overall records of every issue reported, actions taken to resolve, what devices are in use and by whom, when replacements or repairs are required, and identifying any damage.
The role will require travelling across the Western Power Distribution contracts, to the various depots, and to individual teams on site. You will be required to attend meetings both virtually and in person if requested, to provide updates on, any system changes, any identified issues, and assist the Management. The area of travel will range from the Midlands to Cornwall, so overnight stays will sometimes be required and flexibility on this is a must.

What do we need from you?

We are looking for someone who has experience in maintaining mobile device software and settings, as well as a good understanding of mobile work platforms. Organisation skills are a must - and being a team player is essential.

It would also be beneficial (but not essential) to hold an IT or Technical Degree. Experience in the construction or utilities sector would also be beneficial, as would any experience in a remote workforce on the ground.
