Job Description

As a Junior Accountant (SMSF), you will prepare financial reports and tax returns, manage reconciliations, process contributions and pensions, and collaborate with clients and providers to deliver accurate, timely results while strengthening your accounting expertise.

    • The Qualifications We Seek

  • No specific years of experience required as long as the candidate demonstrates the required skills for the role.
  • Relevant work experience in preparing financial statements and tax returns (AU tax experience is not a must, as we provide training in this area).
  • A clear, valid reason for leaving their previous job.
  • A long-term career mindset-someone seeking more than just a title or temporary experience (as we have a flat organizational structure, titles aren't something we offer).
  • Strong communication skills in English (important).
  • The ability to accept feedback and criticism constructively.
  • Willingness to commit to an 18-month bond.
    • Your Daily Tasks

  • Prepare financial reports and annual tax returns for self-managed superannuation funds and lodgments.
  • Prepare detailed working papers and reconcile year-end income, expenses, member balances, contributions, pensions, and investment portfolios.
  • Liaise with clients to finalize financials, returns, and pension requirements.
  • Process pension establishments, commutations, and lump-sum withdrawals (including paperwork/minutes).
  • Prepare contribution reviews, pension reviews, and estimates.
  • Handle year-to-date transactions and report TBAR events when necessary.
  • Process annual/quarterly business activity statements, instalment activity statements, GST reconciliation, and other SMSF-related matters.
  • Collaborate with auditors and actuaries to resolve issues and gather information.
  • Convert funds into the system, including entering opening balances and arranging bank feeds.
