Position: Junior Health and Safety Officer

Location: Galway

Salary: DOE

Elk is currently recruiting for a Graduate Health and Safety Officer with a leading provider of loading bay equipment, industrial and bespoke specialty door systems.

Ideally candidate would have some HR experience also.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide health and safety training to employees such as manual handling, toolbox talks and safety induction
  • Carry out risk assessments on existing and new projects
  • Document Control: responsible for ensuring Emergency Plan, Safety Procedures, Safety Statement; are up to date
  • Data Entry: responsible for logging of Incidents, Near Misses and Good Saves, Inspections, Toolbox Talks and production of reports on monthly or weekly basis.

Requirements:

  • BSc in Health and Safety / Higher Diploma
  • Ability to advise on Health, Safety and Environmental issues on a day to day basis on site, attend site meetings, chair site safety meetings.
  • Ability to carry out and write site inspection reports and site audit reports, deliver site
  • inductions and toolbox talks.
  • Ability to recommend to Project/Site Managers appropriate corrective actions to address risks highlighted in inspection and audit reports.
  • Ability to write, review and assess risk assessments, method statements and advise on how risks could be reduced further.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Word, Publisher, Excel and PowerPoint.
