Catfoss Recruitment Ltd are currently in partnership with a globally respected R&D company that is looking to recruit a LabVIEW Developer on a permanent basis to join their Systems Engineering Team to design, create, and maintain LabVIEW applications and tools.
The Systems Engineering Team is a multi-disciplined team of electrical, electronic, software, mechanical, and control engineers who deliver and maintain capabilities required to operate the plant and company R&D facilities. As part of this team you will enjoy a highly varied role involving work on various capabilities integrating many core functions such as:
* Instrumentation.
* Data acquisition.
* Signal conditioning and processing techniques.
* Control systems.
* Monitoring systems.
* Graphical user interfaces.
* Human machine interfaces.
LabVIEW Developer - What we are looking for from you?
* An honours degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or a related degree such as Electronics Engineering with demonstrable industrial experience using LabVIEW.
* At least 2 years of relevant industrial experience using LabVIEW.
* To produce applications that interface to sensors and actuators for acquiring signals, storing and displaying data, controlling and monitoring plant, rigs or equipment.
* To produce deterministic code for use in time critical applications.
* To develop LabVIEW software for our standalone and distributed system consisting of Compact RIOs, PXI, and PCs.
* To review and propose suitable NI hardware for your projects.
* Methodical troubleshooting and debugging skills, with a passion for problem solving and investigation.
* A thorough understanding of the factors affecting software performance, and the ability to design, write and document code that is maintainable, extensible, reliable, and efficient.
* Familiarity with and application of change management and approval, version control, testing processes, and coding standards.
* Be equally comfortable working individually and collaborating as part of a team.
* Contribute to and, in time, take ownership of the project lifecycle of your application:
o Eliciting requirements.
o Conducting feasibility studies and developing concepts.
o Producing and implementing designs and participating in design reviews.
o Producing test plans and user manuals.
o Commissioning.
o Providing user training and operational support.
o Maintaining and upgrading new and existing applications.
* Good time management skills to ensure that deadlines are met or exceeded to maximise operational availability.
LabVIEW Developer - Desirable skills:
* National Instruments LabVIEW Certification.
* Strong analytical skills to assist with data analysis and problem identification.
* Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis on existing and new systems.
* Ability to use serial, Ethernet, or industrial communication protocols.
* Ability to interpret legacy programming languages.
* An ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams and specifications.
* Familiarity with the configuration of Windows PCs and hardware.
