Introduction:

To provide landscape, arboricultural and nature conservation design and management skills in order to achieve Kier's environmental strategic aims and objectives in the Kier Highways Area 3 contract for Highways England. To design and manage the delivery of the Environmental Designated Funds Biodiversity and Landscape Enrichment schemes in Area 3.

Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities. Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provision of professional services in all aspects of landscape, arboricultural and nature conservation work within Kier Highways Area 3.
  • Design and project manage the delivery of the portfolio of Environmental Designated Funds schemes in Area 3. Including landscape enrichment and biodiversity enhancement schemes.
  • Engage and attend meetings with and provide advice on landscape, arboricultural and nature conservation matters to relevant clients, outside bodies and in house personnel
  • Identify, develop and submit designs and plans for future schemes and present at workshops where required
  • Liaise with client, statutory bodies, contractors and others regarding landscape, arboricultural and nature conservation elements of scheme implementation
  • Liaise with members of the public and third parties and other forms of contact regarding complaints / requests / information
  • Provide financial and progress reports to internal and external colleagues/stake holders/client to ensure cost efficient and timely delivery of portfolio of works
  • Responsible for effective and appropriate use of best practice and innovation in landscape, arboricultural and nature conservation design and management for environmental and engineering schemes

  • Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience in the management of contracts and contractors.
  • Experience of working in highways.
  • Membership of appropriate professional body
  • Applicants should be IT literate and have strong database skills
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid CSCS card
