Based in Cambridgeshire, our client has some of the best facilities in the country such as industry-standard workshops, studios and salons. Our client currently has an exciting opportunity to join them on a temporary basis as a Learning Support Manager starting immediately.
The primary purpose of this job is to: Manage a team of Learning Support Mentors to deliver a range of assessed support for students with special educational needs and to ensure that learning support is provided to an excellent standard. The role ensures that all processes and statutory obligations are made for learning support for students on all programmes and those with Education, Health and Care plans.
Role responsibilities
Managing the delivery support to meet the needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities.
Working alongside teaching staff in a wide variety of teaching situations in order to provide appropriate and high quality support to individual students and groups of students.
Overseeing the completion of risk assessments for individual students and working in collaboration with other strands of the Learning Support Team and study programme teams to ensure smooth transition of support into college.
Assisting/coordinating the facilitation and mobility of students, if appropriate, including aiding mobility around the College and in the community. Providing appropriate moving handling training to staff as and when required.
Promoting empowerment and independence through championing best practice in learning support and inclusion.
Co-ordinating support for identified students to access the curriculum, including: reading, physical access, note taking, typing, providing and ensuring access to enabling technologies.
Coordinating the support for identified students on external visits and, where appropriate, residential trips.
Arrange personal care support, where required and ensuring that staff are aware of the dignity and personal care requirements when undertaking personal care with students.
Motivating students to excel in their subject area
The person & qualifications
Candidates must have GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths Nursing/Care qualifications (Degree or Level 5 in Health and Social Care) Up-to-date qualification in Assisting People to Move
Experience of working with people with physical disabilities/visual impairment Experience of leading and supervising a team of staff
Experience of delivery of support and supervisory experience
Must be enthusiastic and inspiring to learners
Must have an enhanced DBS on the update service or within 12 months (or be willing to apply for one)
