About the opportunity We are looking for Maintenance Fitter to join our Maintenance team based in York. In this role you will be providing essential maintenance and engineering services to Manufacturing ensuring that equipment is repaired, tested and available for use. What can we offer you in return?

  • Annual leave: 24 days + bank holidays
  • Hourly Rate: £14.24 per hour plus bonus scheme £2 per hour
  • Working Hours: Double Day Shifts:
- Morning Shift - working Monday to Thursday from 5:45am until 2:00pm and Fridays from 5:45am until 12:45pm - Afternoon Shift - working Monday to Thursday from 13:45 until 23:45 and Fridays non-working day
  • Premium allowance for working Double Day Shifts
Role Responsibilities
  • Attend to asset breakdowns on a wide variety of machinery, repairing and returning these assets to full working operation in the quickest possible timeframe, whilst ensuring safety is not compromised.
  • Deliver a comprehensive program of planned preventative maintenance routines that meet with the requirements of the relevant statutory regulations and manufacturers recommendations. This will involve data management, planning, scheduling and record keeping.
  • Perform a key role in the management and control of work equipment ensuring that plant and equipment is maintained in a safe operational state in order to protect operators from hazards.
  • Participate in factory reorganisation, new installations and the modernisation of production facilities and equipment.
  • Accurately manufacture jigs, fixtures and tooling to tight tolerances using a range of engineering process, including milling, turning welding, fitting and assembly.
  • Working with our CMMS system you will receive work orders via a pda. You will be required to update and manage your work within CMMS, ensuring all work orders are closed out and the system information is correct and up to date.
  • Repair and maintain the facilities of our manufacturing plant and offices across our production sites. This will include M&E installations, modifications and repair.
  • Undertake any work request and be flexible and adaptable at all times. Your work will include the repair of all kinds of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Take the upmost of care, protecting your own safety, the safety of your maintenance colleagues and the safety others who may be harmed by your acts or omissions.

Are you our ideal candidate? Essential qualifications and experience:
  • Completed a recognised electrical/mechanical apprenticeship to L3 NVQ or higher or City and Guilds qualifications in mechanical fitting and assembly or relevant subjects.
  • Maintenance and repair production machinery
  • Practical engineering ability
  • Principles of mechanical work, fitting and assembly
Desirable qualifications and experience:
  • Experience of supporting and working with a manufacturing / construction environment.
  • HNC or engineering degree in mechanical or electrical discipline.
  • Principles of electrical work
  • Maintenance and repair of overhead cranes
  • Experience of PLC systems
