We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manual Turner to join our dynamic team within the aircraft MRO sector. The ideal candidate will have experience working to fine tolerances using manual lathes and will play a critical role in supporting the precision machining requirements of aircraft components. This role demands a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To operate all types of lathes to fine limits.
- To be able to work unsupervised/ minimal supervision.
- To be able to read and understand technical drawings.
- To take responsibility of work and others.
- To observe and comply with company standards of conduct.
- To be able to work on manual lathes working to fine tolerances.
- An awareness and understanding of responsibilities outlined in the Company's environmental procedures.
- You will be required to maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book.
- You may be required to train personnel with a specified area subject to your qualifications and experience.
- All duties shall be undertaken in compliance with Safety and Environmental Regulations and Company Procedures.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes Required:
- Educated at least at GCSE level or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English.
- Trained in machine shop technology and working practices.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience on manual lathes.
- Experience in Manual and CNC Milling and Grinding desirable.
- Team player with proven ability to manage, lead and guidance.
- Excellent communications skills and able to work within a matrix environment.
- Good organisational skills with strong planning and operational execution.
- Excellent planning, problem solving organisation and administration skills.
- Able to turn vision into strategy and execute.
- Decision maker, analysing for root causes rather than presenting the problem.
- Self-motivated with flexible approach.
- Able to deliver profitable growth through excellent commercial skills and deliver sustainable change.
- Engage others and develop their potential with confident decision-making skills.
Working Conditions:
- Around 37.5 hours per week
- Able to work shifts (06:30 - 14:30 and 13:55 - 21:55)
- The position requires from time-to-time flexibility in working hours including working overtime at weekends.
- The job requires the applicant to understand manual handling.
- The position involves the use of complex machinery.
- The ability to keep your working area clean and tidy and to a 5s standard.
Compliance and Onboarding:
- Candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK unrestricted.
- Mandatory Training will be required.
