Title: Civil Design Engineer

Location: You would be required to work within a commutable distance of three of our south west offices - Hatherleigh / Greendale & Bodmin.

Business area: Utilities - South West Water - Mechanical and Electrical

Introduction: Working in alliance with one of the leader water utility companies in the UK, this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Design Engineer to work within Kier Utilities, working on the South West Water Framework.

No day will be the same in this crucial role where some of your time will be spent site based and you will be responsible providing support for the lead design engineer, carrying out site surveys and data collection. This is an exciting dynamic position and joining a great team!

Key responsibilities:
  • Carry out Site Surveys & Data Collection - topographical and level surveys
  • Produces CAD drawings in both 2D & 3D formats including:
  • Site plans, RC Structure Sections, Pipework long sections, Mechanical pipework layouts, Planning Drawings / Overviews, Estates Drawings, Environmental Permits, Traffic Management Plans, As-built Drawings
  • Obtains service drawings for both Tenders & Operational staff
  • Obtains LIDAR Data from Kier GIS Team
  • Liaises with both material suppliers and potential developers & utility service providers
  • Prepare MH cards
Skills and experience required:
  • Experience of mechanical design at all stages from concept to completion.
  • Industry applicable ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent.
  • Full driving license
  • Design experience within the Water Industry sector including in areas such as potable water production and distribution, waste water treatment and sludge treatment, pumping systems and chemical dosing plants is preferable.
  • Experience in design and build projects would be advantageous
  • Experience or Qualification in AutoCAD 3D.
