Kier Strategic Highways have an excellent opportunity for a M&E Manager to join our Area 3 contract.


Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities.

Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.

Your responsibilities:
  • Liaise with the Health and Safety Advisor to develop safe systems of work and oversee the safe deployment of M&E operatives, ensuring the safety of operatives and network users is a primary consideration at all times.
  • Manage the Health and Safety aspects of all M&E schemes including the responsibilities of Principal Designer when required and manage the production of the scheme Construction Phase Plans and Health and Safety Files.
  • Oversee the procurement and cost-efficient use of plant, materials and labour
  • Undertake internal audit checks and health and safety inspections in accordance with performance indicators
  • Manage the performance, training and development of direct reports. Provide direction, training and motivation necessary to secure the optimum commitment and competence of direct reports and their teams to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the network for all users.
  • Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with the general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Procedures Manual.
What are we looking for?:
  • Appropriate qualifications in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
  • Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification as a minimum requirement
  • City & Guilds IEE Regulation 17th Edition.
  • CSCS/ECS Registration & First Aid Qualification, G39
