The Role - Mechanical Design Engineer
The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will manage a team of Mechanical Engineers and designers to deliver project(s) to requisite quality standards within time and budget. You will take full responsibility for the delivery of the technical scope of the project throughout the complete project lifecycle from initial concept design through to handover and completion.

The Right Person
The successful mechanical design engineer will have the ability to plan and organise multiple workload requirements, manage deadlines within programme and budget. You will have the ability to lead a team of skilled engineers, providing technical guidance, and project support. You will have experience of generating requirements from clients brief and decomposing into functional designs, and the ability to produce high quality accurate engineering drawings including, systems layouts and design schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the preparation and presentation of proposals and tenders, ensuring that sufficient engineering and design work is carried out to enable problem areas to be identified, technical risks minimised/identified and accurate cost estimates prepared.
- Review of client tender documents and/or contract documents and preparing brief, including any additional specifications necessary to ensure that the functional, technical statutory, health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Agreeing the man hour budget and timescales for all engineering and design tasks identified on the work.
- Providing the day to day supervision and management of engineering and design staff assigned to the project team, ensuring the activities are completed on time, within budget and at the required levels of quality.
- Liaison with the installation and commissioning teams
- Oversee the generation of manufacturing and installation drawings for conveyor line arrangement, maintenance platforming, crossovers, lifting beams.
