MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Catfoss Recruitment Ltd are currently in partnership with a globally respected R&D company that is looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to their expanding team on a permanent basis.

The Systems Engineering Team is a multi-disciplined team of electrical, electronic, software, mechanical, and control engineers who deliver and maintain capabilities required to operate the plant and company R&D facilities. As part of this team you will enjoy a highly varied role involving work on various industrial machinery such as:
* Rotating plant, including motors, journal bearings, fans, and turbine compressors.
* Hydraulic systems, including hydraulic power units, circuits, and actuators.
* Pneumatic system, including air compressors (ranging from 7 bar screw and gear compressors to 250 bar reciprocating compressors), circuits and actuators.
* Cooling systems, including water pumps, heat exchangers, evaporative cooling towers and chillers.
* Air drying systems.
* Lubrication systems.
* Model movement systems.
*Water treatment plant.

Mechanical Engineer - What we are looking for from you?
* An honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related degree with demonstrable industrial experience.
* At least 2 years of relevant industrial experience.
* Perform stress and structural analysis.
* Produce mechanical drawings.
* Produce piping and instrumentation diagrams.
* Methodical troubleshooting and debugging skills, with a passion for problem solving and investigation
* Familiarity with and application of change management and approval, version control, and testing processes.
* Be equally comfortable working individually and collaborating as part of a team.
* Contribute to and, in time, take ownership of the project lifecycle:
o Eliciting requirements.
o Conducting feasibility studies and developing concepts.
o Producing designs and participating in design reviews.
o Producing test plans and user manuals.
o Overseeing the manufacture and installation.
o Commissioning.
o Providing user training, defining maintenance, and operational support.
o Maintaining and upgrading new and existing capabilities.
* Produce risk assessments and method statements for work conducted on plant.
* Good time management skills to ensure that deadlines are met or exceeded to maximise operational availability.

Mechanical Engineer - Desirable skills:
* Familiar with instrumentation typically found on industrial plant, such as pressure, temperature, flow.
* Strong analytical skills to assist with data analysis and problem identification.
* Demonstrable experience of complying with relevant legislation and standards, including:
o The Machinery Directive
o Pressure Equipment Directive
* Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis on existing and new systems.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
* Familiarity with the configuration of Windows PCs and hardware.
