Kier Local Highways are currently recruiting for a General Operative to join our seasonal surface treatments business. The Micro Asphalt season is expected to last for approximately 32 weeks.
Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities. Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating machinery as directed using codes of practice and in compliance with Kier policies and all health & safety regulations.
- Be flexible and carry out the duties expected of you in an efficient and safe manner.
- Produce quality work and ensure we provide a high-quality cost-effective service to our client.
- Maintain written and electronic records.
- Whilst driving/operating vehicles or plant, ensure daily checks are carried out and recorded.
- Take ownership and communicate any issues on site.
- Establish good working relationships with Foreman, Agent/Supervisor and other colleagues.
Essential:
- Basic numerical and literary skills
- Full UK Driving Licence (C+E)
- Experience in Surface Treatments or Highway Maintenance Industry
- Sector Scheme 12d Qualifications (T1/2)
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card - Blue - Skilled Worker
- First Aid certificate
- Holder of CAT C or C+E Driving License
- Previous plant experience or agricultural / site - based roles
