MRICS Quantity Surveyor

Job Title: Chartered Quantity Surveyor
Location: London (with some hybrid working - because even QSs deserve a break from the commute)

The Pitch
I'm looking for a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with a head for numbers, a knack for commercial insight, and the people skills to keep even the most seasoned developer smiling. You'll be joining the London office of a thriving, independent construction consultancy that's making big waves in the property world.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit in the corner quietly counting bricks. You'll be front and centre with clients, steering projects from early feasibility through to final account sign-off, and working across a seriously varied portfolio - think commercial, retail, industrial, and a few surprises along the way.

If you like the sound of mixing top-tier professionalism with a genuinely supportive and flexible culture, keep reading.

The Company
My client is an award-winning consultancy with a reputation for delivering first-class cost, building, and sustainability advice to a mix of investors, developers, and occupiers. They're large enough to handle big-ticket projects, small enough to care about the people doing them, and proud of the fact that integrity isn't just a word in their brochure.

The London office is buzzing, and with the cost consultancy arm growing fast, they're looking for someone who can roll up their sleeves, add real value, and maybe even teach the team a thing or two.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading on cost planning and management for a range of construction projects (no two days look the same here)
  • Running the numbers pre- and post-contract: feasibility studies, tender reports, procurement, and final accounts
  • Getting involved in business development - building relationships and spotting opportunities to grow the service line
  • Advising clients with the kind of commercial insight that makes them want you in every project meeting
  • Balancing technical know-how with the diplomacy of a seasoned relationship-builder

What You'll Bring

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) and MRICS status
  • Solid knowledge of JCT contracts (other forms welcome too)
  • Proven commercial cost consultancy experience - ideally across commercial, residential, and retail
  • Confidence to manage your own projects and inspire client trust
  • The ability to work independently but also be the kind of team player people actually enjoy working with
  • A little bit of networking flair - whether that's at a client lunch or an industry seminar

Perks & Benefits

  • Hybrid working (minimum 3 days in the office - the rest is up to you)
  • Competitive salary, car allowance, and bonus scheme
  • Private healthcare, life assurance, and pension
  • 25 days' holiday, plus charity and wellbeing days
  • Season ticket loan, cycle-to-work scheme, and professional membership fees covered

If you're a commercially minded QS who can balance spreadsheets with smiles, and you like the sound of working in a place where your career will actually move forward, this could be your next move.
