City College Plymouth currently have exciting opportunity to join as a Full-time, permanent Network and Security Engineer with a competitive salary on offer from £18,691 to £20,533 per annum.
In addition to your salary, you can expect an annual leave entitlement of 29 days pro rata for this role, plus Bank Holidays and additional College closure days over the festive period. Role Responsibilities
* To support the Senior Network Engineer in the implementation, maintenance, and proactive monitoring of the network to ensure optimal performance is obtained
* Service desk Ticket fulfilment with regard maintenance of WAN & LAN connections, firewalls, switches, routers, wireless as directed by the Senior Network Engineer
* Ensure all jobs are recorded as tickets on the Hornbill Service Desk and are updated and maintained
* Ensure all changes are adequately tested and all change requests are approved through change request management routes
* Ensure all Network assets / items are maintained and updated on the Hornbill Service Desk to provide an accurate overview of the college infrastructure
* Support in completion of regular vulnerability checks on college systems as required and support of external pen testing programmes
* Support in the implementation of required controls, monitoring and documentation to maintain the College cyber-Essentials certification and support with progress towards Cyber Essentials + and eventual ISO270001 accreditation
* Support in the implementation of effective offsite backup solutions
* Support in the delivery of the college Cloud first / Digital first policy with effective implementation of cloud-based solutions where appropriate
* Any other duties that are commensurate with the post.
Person Specification
* Must have a formal qualification in networking
* Previous experience of WAN & LAN connections and firewalls
* Previous experience of supporting/configuring switches, routers, and wireless technology
* Level 3 qualification in Computer Technology or similar
* Demonstrated experience of technical problem diagnosis and resolution
* Positive, innovative and a passion for IT
* Be able to demonstrate having undertaken continuous professional development
* Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work in a team
* Self-motivated, proactive and with the ability to see through jobs to completion
