Introduction: Kier Utilities is looking to recruit a 'Network Technician' who will report to the Construction Manager on our renovations workstream, clean water. The successful post-holder will be responsible for inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, monitoring and reporting on Kier and sub-contractor work on a day-to-day basis. This will include health and safety, maximising crew productivity and providing support on interruptions to supply. The primary function of this role is to actively manage 'valving, flushing and sampling' of the network to enable isolation, repair and recommissioning of potable water mains. The role also includes assistance and support to the Supervisors to provide a quality, timely and efficient service to the client in line with the policies and procedures. Experience of working and operating clean water networks is essential. Key responsibilities:
  • Carry out mains isolation, risk assessments, as-laid plans, flushing, water sampling, SRC audits, compaction testing, pressure testing and site inspections.
  • Carry out technical audits in line with the annual audit plan.
  • Investigate and monitor defects and service strikes.
  • Carry and deliver to site imprest stock.
  • Ensure all works are NRSWA compliant.
  • Customer liaison.
  • Complying with clients standards of service and targets.
  • Maintain a 1 in 4 out of hours standby.
Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience of working on water network contracts with an excellent understanding of work methods. Valve operations and sampling awareness
  • IT skills (this role will require the individual to operate a mobile working system)
  • Good working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Delivering excellent customer services
  • NVQ 2 Mains & Service Laying
  • SCMC Safe Control of Mains Connection Senior Competent Person
  • C&G Deep Excavation (or equiv)
  • 2 day SSSTS
  • NRSWA Supervisory Qualification.
  • EUSR Water Hygiene
  • EUSR SHEA WATER
