Location: BSR Group HQ and various solar farm sites throughout the UK,

The O&M Lead Technician is primarily responsible for being the Service Delivery Team lead on all matters technical supporting the Regional Operational Managers to ensure technical solutions, reactive and planned maintenance activities are delivered safely in line with time, quality, budget criteria. This role interfaces with a number of internal and external stakeholders including Clients (when required) suppliers, account managers, service technicians and operatives in order to ensure coordination, communication and the administration of key activities are carried out.

Duties of the Role

To collaborate with and support the Regional Operations Manager and the Regional Field Service team members in:

  • HV Authorised Person (to AP or above) duties;
  • Proactive support to the development of the suite of BSR OMIs;
  • Period review of library of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (including live working risk assessment);
  • Oversight of the adherence and development of the BSR Electrical Safety Policy and implementation of any changes to the policy;
  • Designated Assessing Officer in the BSR LV Electrical Safety Rules;
  • Lead coordinator for winter HV maintenance programme;
  • Lead on the period review and roll out of site-specific hazard plans and emergency response plans;
  • Lead named person coordinating the NAPIT accreditation system, and designated Qualified Supervisor;
  • Design and deliver a scheduled rota of tool box talks to field team members;
  • Coaching and mentoring Service Technicians through their career development;
  • Carrying out regular safety tours and follow up on corrective actions;
  • Championing, co-ordination of and participation in EPICs;
  • Proactive input to the planned maintenance planning process, specifically focussing on time, techniques and competencies;
  • Participation in the reactive maintenance duty rota;
  • Providing roving Service Technician capacity as and when required;
  • On call duty rota.

Experience and qualifications:

  • At least five years technical experience as a qualified electrician (17th edition) or electrical engineer;
  • Inspection and maintenance experience and qualifications (C&G 2391 or 2394/5);
  • Solar PV installation and maintenance experience (including systems over 50kWp and G59/3) and qualifications (C&G 2372 or C&G 2399 or equivalent);
  • Experience and training with central PV Inverters (i.e. Ingeteam, Gamesa, ABB, Sungrow, Emerson etc.) and Power Electronic PV inverters is highly desirable;
  • Experience and training with HV switchgear and systems is highly desirable;
  • Health and Safety awareness (e.g. ECS and/or SSSTS) including valid first aid ticket;
