Location: Mobile / remote role, with frequent travel across Midlands, Home Counties, London, South England & East England - with ad-hoc visits to Basingstoke office

Business area: Kier Places - Facilities Management - Projects Team - Ministry of Justice, Home Office & Government Property Agency contracts

Contract: Permanent, full time - Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Kier Places are recruiting now for an Operational Health & Safety Project Manager to join our Facilities Management Projects team on our Ministry of Justice (MoJ), Home Office & Government Property Agency (GPA) contracts to take responsibility for promoting Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Assurance policies & practices across the projects team, ensuring the highest possible standards are implemented. Reporting into the Head of Projects with oversight and support from the Head of SHE, this is an operational role which will requires supporting our internal projects delivery team and supply chain.

The key clients that this role will support includes Ministry of Justice, Home Office and the Government Property Agency, and the contract currently covers the South of the UK, with some work in the Midlands & East Anglia, with a portfolio of over 400 buildings of varying age & size including pre-1900 listed buildings, offices & commercial buildings, and high security infrastructure locations.

Key Responsibilities

As an Operational Health & Safety Project Manager, you will ensure all projects are compliant with all Kier Group SHE policy & procedures, legal requirements & best practices, SHE statutory requirements, accredited processes, and all contract specific SHEA requirements; and also drive a culture of continual improvement focused on achieving a zero-harm at all levels. You will carry this task out in a manner wholly consistent with Kier's SHE policies and procedures without compromise; and ensure any local guidance are fully aligned in order that no conflict or confusion exists to drive to deliver continual SHE improvements across the Business Unit.

As a focused & trusted Operational Health & Safety Project Manager, you will set a strategy and manage performance throughout the life of all projects; work alongside the operational teams conducting site inspections, and ensure the appropriate action plans have been put in place; and manage the reporting & review of all SHEA accidents and incidents.

This is an operational role where regular site attendance will be required throughout the South of the UK to ensure the on-site SHE requirements are in place. Any findings must be tracked & managed through to completion by both engaging / supporting the project managers and supply chain.

Part of this position is to ensure Kier is represented in the formulation of future SHE legislation, along with anticipating and be aware of future SHE legislation changes and making plans to adapt to new legislation in a controlled and timely manner.

What do we need from you?

To be an Operational Health & Safety Project Manager with Kier FM, you will need to be NEBOSH qualified or equivalent (or demonstrable IPD / CPD equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety with experience of working in a SHE role in the an M&E refurbishment, fit-out or building services environment.

To make the most of this role, you should have Tech IOSH / Graduate IOSH, IOSH Managing Safely, Auditor ISO 45001 / 9001 / 14001, as well as a working understanding of SHE Legislation, knowledge of the SHE Assurance process including conducting audits, and experience liaising with operational management, contractors and clients.

Due to the nature of the role, you should have a full driving licence, be happy travelling across the country to a variety of locations, and be happy staying away from home overnight when required.
