Kier Mechanical & Electrical (KME) are a specialist MEPH self-delivery business within the Kier group, supporting the internal regional businesses across the UK and the Strategic Projects business on complex and challenging projects that range from £5m to £150m M+E. Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Managing Director or Regional Director, the purpose of this role is to provide leadership to a defined suite of projects, oversee business operations and implement business strategy and plans. To manage the resources of the projects (people, finance and physical assets) in order to deliver profitable outcomes. This will include support for work winning to maximise market share by spotting market opportunities, supporting the preparation of tenders and negotiating contracts.
Projects to be delivered safely on time, and to the required quality while maximising gross profit and customers' satisfaction. To implement all group policies including those for SHE and risk management.
Resources will be located across the business including local construction offices and project sites. Part of this role is to ensure a consistency and 'community' exists with efficient and consistent processes and procedures, aligned with the Construction business units.
Duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Implement / comply with Kier SHE policy and procedures, all legal requirements, and best practice
- To develop and implement the projects budgets for gross profit and cash flow
- To lead, manage and motivate staff and establish their full contribution to the organisation
- To ensure the projects have the required capacity, capability and competency of staff
- To maintain the integrity of Kier Group's organisational principles and structure
- To plan managerial succession across the projects
- To develop a culture within the projects that embodies the values of Kier
- To spot short-term and medium-term market trends, and support the development and implementation of the business unit's strategy
What do we need from you?
You will have proven experience within the MEP construction sector in a similar role. Ideally, you will have experience working with a leading national or regional contractor across a range of sectors including custodial, healthcare, commercial, education & science/technology.
Applicants will have demonstrable experience in people management and will be a sophisticated and collaborative influencer able to navigate a complex client, supply chain and external stakeholder landscape. You will have the ability to create an environment of empowerment, where direct reports and teams are able to develop and excel.
