A growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Operations/ General Manager to lead its Frankfurt office. This is a newly created position offering an exciting opportunity to shape the direction of a young and expanding team while ensuring consistency, leadership, and operational excellence across the business.
The company delivers structural and civil engineering services across the UK and Europe, with a strong focus on data centres, logistics warehouses, and technology-led developments, alongside experience in residential, retail, and laboratory sectors.

The Opportunity

The Frankfurt office has been steadily expanding over the last few years and is now seeking a hands-on leader to provide day-to-day direction, strengthen operations, and support further growth. You will oversee the local structures team, collaborate with the civil engineering function, and ensure the smooth running of all office activities.
This is a key leadership position that combines technical understanding, team development, and operational management, while also providing input on compliance, policy, and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily running of the Frankfurt office, providing visible leadership and ensuring operational consistency.
  • Manage and mentor a growing team of engineers and support staff across structural and civil disciplines.
  • Support the development of policies, procedures, and processes in line with German regulations and company standards.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality, timeliness, and profitability across a diverse portfolio of European and UK projects.
  • Ensure compliance with German employment law, health and safety, and Eurocodes.
  • Collaborate with the UK leadership team and Frankfurt Director to align local operations with global business objectives.
  • Provide strong people leadership, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
  • Support business development initiatives and client relationships across Germany and Europe

About You

We are looking for an approachable, organised, and driven leader who enjoys building teams and guiding people through growth and change.

Essential experience and skills:

  • Proven experience within the German construction or engineering market, ideally in a consultancy or project management environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of German business and employment law, local regulations, and Eurocodes.
  • Technical background in engineering, project management, or construction (civil, structural, or general construction).
  • Fluency in German and English - this is a client-facing role requiring excellent communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and supportive management style.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to oversee financial performance and operational metrics.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and fostering positive office culture.


Desirable:

  • Experience of leading or supporting business growth within a new or developing office.
  • Willingness to consider relocation to Frankfurt for the right candidate
