Kier Highways are recruiting for an Optimisation Engineer to join the Area 9 team based in the Birmingham and West Midlands area, to be part of the team driving change in Highways technology maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
As an Optimisation Engineer part of the Kier Strategic Highways Area 9 Asset Support Contract, you will take responsibility for delivering targeted network optimisation across all asset types - including MIDAS, Message Signs, Signals or CCTV. This will involve working closely with the performance team to selectively optimise sections of the network., use your experience and knowledge to train, mentor and develop the technology optimisation technicians, work with the technology operations manager(s) to assist in developing the maintenance requirements plan, and work closely with the performance team to ensure faults are dealt with intelligently.
The Optimisation Engineer role is based on a normal 40 hours per week. There will be a requirement for occasional night shifts as required.
What do we need from you?
Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience working as a highways technology maintenance engineer or optimisation engineer, with understanding of Highways England technology systems including TPMS, COBS and its subsystems, display equipment, CCTV, digital storage devices and motorway communications. You should also have knowledge and application of current technologies, standards and best practice relating to Highways England`s Motorway and trunk road communications systems.
Finally, it is highly desirable that you have Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), and have HERS Sector 8 training relevant to role.
