Job Description
As a
Packaging Engineer, you will develop innovative packaging solutions that ensure safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness across the supply chain. You'll collaborate with global teams, manage supplier relationships, and lead packaging projects that deliver measurable results in quality, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.

The Qualifications We Seek
Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Technologies, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related Science
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on packaging experience, preferably in the retail industry
Proficiency in MRP systems and packaging management tools (e.g., TOPPS or equivalent)
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
High initiative, strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
Retail packaging experience beneficial
Knowledge of global packaging initiatives (EU-MDR, EU-PPWR, UK-PPT, etc.) beneficial
Ability to work cross-functionally and adapt to changing priorities

Your Daily Tasks
Execute Global External Manufacturing projects, strategy, relationship management and cost savings.
Develop, educate, and continuously improve packaging protocol for various packaging levels as assigned that minimizes the risk of product loss and / or damage
Understand and develop package design and testing protocols
Execute the design and creation of new primary, secondary, tertiary, and display level packaging designs for retail and clinical businesses
Packaging materials include paperboard, corrugate, plastics, metals and other materials as needed
Communicate with suppliers, graphics resources, and internal stakeholders to explain, advance and execute the strategy plan.
Create and review a comprehensive list of components and materials needed to create our product Bills of Materials (BOM) which are used to create product specifications. The BOM is the foundation of information needed to create product specifications.
Understand Unit of Measure and utilize it to define how a product is purchased, distributed, and sold. The Unit of Measure is used to define the quantities within the Bill of Materials (BOM)
Engage and execute in the collection of primary and secondary packaging data for PH Branded products
Create and maintain product specifications, generate drawings and inspection procedures to ensure the Quality Management System is current and up to date and aligned with external manufacturing of products
Research product technical information to maintain competent knowledge of various product attributes
Perform value analysis to satisfy the project requirements, which includes ISTA testing, ASTM testing, and ISO standards
Understand and incorporate proper markings and labeling content for both transit (CFR49) and regulatory (medical device, cosmetics, etc) compliance
Create and write assembly / kitting instructions for package assembly to be executed at any location
Plan and execute offsite display assembly and execution, from start-up through actual shipment direct to customer DCs
Perform value analysis to satisfy form, fit and function requirements at the lowest total cost while maintaining product integrity
Ability to resolve graphics and definition discrepancies between internal stakeholders and external suppliers / manufacturers.
Miscellaneous reports, analysis, project management as needed
