Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and mentor a team of BMS Design and Applications Engineers, supporting the delivery of technically robust, energy-efficient building control systems.
  • Take the lead in developing advanced control strategies and architecture, from HVAC logic and plant sequencing to integration with third-party systems.
  • Leverage your experience with BACnet, MQTT and IP-based architectures to drive best-in-class integration and smart building functionality.
  • Support energy optimisation goals across commercial and critical environments, using data-driven strategies to reduce consumption and boost performance.
  • Work hands-on with Tridium Niagara and related platforms to guide system architecture, application engineering, and scalable solutions.

Experience Required:

  • Extensive knowledge of BMS control systems, including a deep understanding of HVAC systems, plant control and smart building technologies.
  • Hands-on experience writing and reviewing control strategies for HVAC and energy systems, with a focus on efficiency and scalability.
  • Strong familiarity with open protocols such as BACnet, MQTT and Modbus, including practical integration experience.
  • Experience with Tridium Niagara or similar integration platforms (e.g., Trend, Distech, Siemens) - including graphics, logic and system architecture.
  • Solid understanding of energy optimisation principles, including system analytics, fault detection and performance reporting.

We currently have a vacancy for an Inspection and Testing Engineer with a Mechanical Engineering background to support our Construction Team. This role involves working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and other key stakeholders to ensure all inspection and testing activities are coordinated effectively. You will help ensure that site requirements and compliance standards are met in line with project schedules and programme demands.

Main Responsibilities:

Conduct statutory thorough examinations and inspections on all types of equipment, including lifting equipment, work equipment, structural supports, plant and access equipment.
Report inspection findings in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and standards (e.g., LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998).
Advise and support customers regarding their legal obligations under relevant regulations.
Prepare detailed, compliant inspection reports and ensure all documentation meets internal and regulatory standards.
Recommend corrective actions or repairs when equipment or structures are non-compliant or unsafe.
Stay up to date with industry legislation, standards, and best practice (including LOLER, PUWER, BS EN 1090).
Communicate inspection results clearly and professionally to clients, offering expert guidance on ongoing compliance and safety.
Collaborate with engineers, site managers, and fabricators to co-ordinate inspections during manufacturing, assembly, and installation phases.
Promote a safety-first culture by identifying unsafe conditions or practices and reporting them promptly.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inspection and testing, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills and clear communication are essential for effectively liaising with site teams and clients. You should be confident in managing a varied workload, prioritising tasks in a fast-paced environment, and contributing positively to a team-focused culture.

Experience within the structural steel or construction industry is desirable but not essential. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Inspection and Testing Engineer to join a supportive team and further develop their skills within a leading UK construction company.
