I have an exciting opportunity with a High-End Quantity Surveying consultancy who are looking to add an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to their supportive team. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be based in Central London, near Cannon Street.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be offered Hybrid working.

The Company

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be joining a forward-thinking consultancy who are looking to add a Quantity Surveyor to their team, as they have a strong pipeline of work for the next year. You would be joining a small but young and hard-working team of 4 people, all Quantity Surveyors.

As a company their bread and butter are High End Residential projects, including new builds and refurbishments.

The role of the Senior Quantity Surveyor

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will come in and take responsibility for leading projects and developing junior staff, with a progression pathway in sight, within the company.

The projects the Senior Quantity Surveyor will jump straight on to is a New Build Private Home with a contract value of £16M and a Hotel project with a contract value of £38M.

As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will need to produce cost plans, advise on cost options, produce tender documents, contract administration and Employer's Agent service and negotiate and agree interim valuations, variations and final accounts.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor

  • BSc/MSc Quantity Surveying or RICS accredited degree
  • Ideally experience working on High End Residential projects
  • MRICS or currently working towards
  • Experience within a private practice / consultancy
  • Strong Pre and post contract knowledge Excellent attitude and team player
  • Able to support with mentoring junior colleagues

  • The Qualifications We Seek

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (preferred; equivalent practical experience considered).
  • 1-3 years of underwriting experience required, preferably in merchant cash advance (MCA), lending, credit risk analysis, or related financial services.
  • Strong underwriting mindset with the ability to assess risk factors and make sound, data-driven decisions.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements, income patterns, or non-traditional income structures (e.g., gig economy platforms) is a plus.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail in risk assessment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English for both internal and client-facing interactions.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple applications simultaneously in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
  • Familiarity with Infinity software, CRMs, or financial analysis platforms is preferred but not required.
  • Customer-centric approach with strong interpersonal skills for effective client engagement.
  • Willingness to work onsite in night shifts and take on varied responsibilities ("wear multiple hats").
  • Your Daily Tasks

    Underwriting & Evaluation

  • Review and analyze MCA applications, focusing on three months of bank statements, ACH transactions, and other financial data.
  • Validate income sources, distinguishing between consumer and gig economy income streams.
  • Assess applicants' financial stability and ensure compliance with internal underwriting guidelines.
  • Provide well-documented underwriting decisions supported by data-driven insights.
  • Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities to enhance underwriting processes and criteria.
  • Stay informed about market trends and gig economy developments to refine underwriting practices.
  • Propose and help implement innovative strategies to improve risk assessment and applicant evaluation.
  • Customer Communication

  • Engage with applicants to explain MCA products, requirements, and the underwriting process.
  • Educate customers on necessary documentation and assist them in gathering required materials to expedite application approvals.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with customers to address inquiries, provide updates, and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and organized records of underwriting decisions, customer interactions, and process outcomes.
  • Generate regular reports on underwriting metrics and lead validation performance.
  • Document trends and findings to provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Speed and Efficiency

  • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and work quickly while maintaining accuracy.
