We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paint Sprayer to join our MRO team specialising in aircraft landing gear. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and application of protective and decorative coatings on aircraft landing gear components in accordance with OEM specifications, aerospace standards, and internal procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage individual workload effectively to meet production schedules and business priorities, adapting to changes as required.
  • Prepare and apply aerospace-grade sealants and paint systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and technical documentation.
  • Mix paint and sealing compounds accurately, ensuring correct ratios and quality standards are maintained.
  • Perform precise masking and surface preparation of components prior to coating.
  • Operate and maintain spray painting equipment and ensure associated tools and booths are in optimal working condition.
  • Monitor and manage spray booth and curing oven parameters to maximise operational efficiency and achieve desired finish quality.
  • Adhere to company environmental procedures, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in line with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) regulations.
  • Accurately complete and maintain required documentation, including Practical Experience Record (PER) books.
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of team members, where qualified and as directed.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes Required:

  • Engineering or similar apprenticeship (preferable)
  • Educated at least at GCSE level
  • Proven experience as a paint sprayer, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or industrial sectors.
  • Understanding of surface preparation, coating systems, and quality control techniques.
  • Familiarity with aerospace paint systems and specifications (e.g., chromate primer, polyurethane topcoat).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, process instructions, and coating specs.
  • Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and steady hand-eye coordination.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety practices relating to hazardous materials.
  • A well-organised, punctual, and quality-focused individual with a flexible approach to work and a strong ability to contribute effectively within a team environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Around 37.5 hours per week
  • Able to work shifts (06:00 - 14:00 and 13:55 - 21:55).
  • The position requires from time-to-time flexibility in working hours including working overtime at weekends.
  • The job requires the applicant to understand manual handling.
  • The ability to keep your working area clean and tidy and to a 5s standard.
  • Work is performed in a controlled spray booth environment.
  • Exposure to chemicals, solvents, noise, and protective equipment (PPE) is required.

Compliance and Onboarding:

  • Candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK unrestricted.
  • Mandatory Training will be required.
