Kier Workplace Services provides specialist teams and technology solutions to help plan, manage and improve our clients' workplaces. This provides our clients with access to solutions not readily available in their own organisations. It also enables our clients to focus on their core business, while Kier takes care of the rest. Our key clients include the Royal Opera House, Royal Shakespeare Company, Legal and General, Kent County Council, Oldham Council, BAE and the London Borough of Southwark. We also work with a number of schools and academies, the Welsh Government and hold a major contract with the NHS in Yorkshire and Humber.
Kier Workplace Services are looking to recruit a Principal Architect to work and assist in the leadership of our design team in Lincoln. Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and advise on environmental, legal and regulatory issues.
  • Responsibility for the commercial performance of projects under your control.
  • Prepare detailed plans and resource schedules both in the short and medium term to match workload forecasts and resource allocation.
  • Contribute to commercial bids, feasibility studies and planning applications and other regulatory issues and applications.
  • Be able to lead on substantial and complex projects and manage, mentor and co-ordinate others to ensure the effective delivery of work programmes.
  • Participating in the detailed design process and the production and co-ordination of design information including preparing and presenting concept and detailed drawings.
  • Ensure that duties are carried out in accordance with all relevant policies, legislation, company procedures and Quality Assurance procedures including Health and Safety.
  • Administer a range of contracts including as a minimum the JCT and NEC suites.
  • Ability to work flexibly to support the needs of the team, nationally.
  • Lead and support local and national bids as appropriate.
  • Provide management support to Regional Lead.
  • Network and generate opportunities and new leads.
  • Promote the business and company at external events.
  • Undertake other appropriate duties commensurate with the role as required by the business.




  • Key Skills and Qualifications
    • Qualified Architect (preferably Chartered).
    • Excellent design capabilities
    • Excellent technical and detailing skills.
    • Experience of team management - mentoring, support & guidance
    • Knowledge of all current regulations, relevant procurement methods
    • Experience of Contract Administration / Site Supervision / Project Management and CDMC regulations.
    • Up to date with developments within the design/construction industry
    • Able to demonstrate and illustrate knowledge and experience across all sectors of the RIBA Plan of Work 2013
    • Use of REVIT and delivery of projects up to BIM level 2 and all relevant IT and CAD software packages also including Autocad, Sketchup, Adobe Design Suite, Word, Excel.
