This is an opportunity for an experienced and client-focused mechanical building services expert to join the team at their London office. This key role will work alongside directors and partners, ensuring the successful delivery whilst working with clients, architects and other stakeholders for some of the most exciting new school building projects in the UK and worldwide.
Principal Mechanical Engineer - Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will take a key role in delivering education projects in the south of England with a typical project value between £10m and £80m. You will work closely with colleagues of various disciplines from pre-bid through to design phases to completion and post-handover.
This is an opportunity to develop project management and project financial skills to compliment your engineering skills.
This role should be viewed as a steppingstone to the next level and to be part of the leadership in this sector in the south.
You will develop new and nurture existing outstanding client relationships that maximise satisfaction and ensure repeat business and will use your wealth of expertise and leadership skills to manage, motivate and inspire less experienced engineers.
Principal Mechanical Engineer - Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Likely a minimum of six years' experience in a mechanical engineering role within a building services context.
- You will likely be a Chartered Engineer or working towards.
- Experience in the design of ventilation, cooling, heating systems, etc. and the importance of fabric and other environmental factors that impact good school design and energy performance.
- Have working experience of the DfE specifications, as well as the tendering engagement process required to support Tier 1 contractors bidding for schemes.
- Given the collaborative and client-focused nature of this role, excellent communication and time management skills are essential.
- Specifically for this role, we are seeking an engineer who is willing to be part of bid processes as well as leading design teams.
- You will attend our internal national and international schools sector meetings, sharing best practice and opportunities.
