Location: Shrewsbury


Kier Local Highways are looking to recruit a Procurement Co-ordinator to join the Shropshire Council highways maintenance contract.

Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities. Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.


Job Purpose:

To co-ordinate the procurement activity within the contract, ensuring that the supply chain is available for use at all time.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Raising of purchase orders.
  • Processing of miscellaneous payments where appropriate.
  • Ensuring that products / services are GRN'd within the appropriate timescales.
  • Working closely with the Financial Shared Service Centre (FSSC) to ensure that all accounts remain fluid and open at all times.
  • Processing of requests to open new supplier accounts.
  • Resolve any outstanding disputes with the supply chain.
  • Ensuring that all orders are raised to the appropriate supplier, ensuring best value for money to Kier.
  • Provide both the Business Services Manager and General Manager monthly supplier spend reports.
  • Completion of the stock take process.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience of local authority work, if possible having worked for an authority and as a contractor for an authority.
  • Computer literate with extra skills in financial management and programming.
  • Commercial awareness.
